Q & A
Where is home?
I was born and raised in Whitby, Ontario where I lived for 20 years until I met my husband and moved to the beautiful small town of Port Hope, where I have lived for the past 8 years.
Did you go to school to study photography?
I have an advanced college degree in Graphic Design. Within my 3 years in college I took several photography classes and enjoyed a lot of time in the photography studio. I learned a lot about my camera and photography but it was there where I realized my real passion was to be an outdoor photographer. Fiddling with lights and backdrops just wasn’t my thing, I love nature and natural light from the sun to capture my photographs.
How long have you been a photographer?
I have had a camera for as long as I can remember. Doing photo shoots of all of my friends in high school was a huge passion of mine but I have been a professional photographer since 2011. I have been shooting weddings for 6 of those 8 years.
Do you always use a second photographer for weddings?
Yes! I believe it is very important to have a second shooter on a wedding day. I am so lucky to have found a partner who shares my passion for photography. My husband Edwin, is my second shooter. We think weddings are a super special day and having 2 photographers allows us to get all of the special moments caught on camera, and we are able to capture both the bride and the groom getting ready for their day and all the little details that one person couldn’t possibly capture alone. We often find ourselves slow dancing on the dance floor at the end of the night reminiscing on our own wedding day.
When should I book my wedding photographer?
My advice is to do your research and book as soon as possible once you have a date set. Wedding Photographers book dates typically 10 months to a year in advance. If your wedding is during the prime months especially May, June, September, and October you want to be sure to contact your photographer quickly to make sure your date is available.
What type of cameras do you shoot with?
Canon 70D (My second shooter for weddings shoots with a Nikon D90)
